“Monchito" is a typical “machito".
I define myself as an structural misogynist, but I am not happy with this. All my sensitive and creativity are through from my culture and my upbringing, so, I'm from male chauvinist culture. I think about that it is very related with the fact that it has been builded a society that have its base on the strong, where the stronger human has led from the others and he has imposed himself to anybody to resist him. It is violence, and along to the history we can watch how the violence has evolved to any forms when somebody try to get resistance. It has been improving itself. Therefore, even our favourites characters of fiction also are constructed about the misogynist and shown us the male chauvinist culture in their aspects.
For example, I like very much “El Chavo del 8" and when I was a child I watched every week each episode about El Chavo and his friends and all characters of the neighborhood. I have laughed to much with any adventure, and every character produced me several sensations. This serial was produced in 70's decades from Mexican television production, it is a very popular sitcom around the world and treat about El Chavo, the main character, and his adventures and troubles with the others characters, as well as Quico, Chilindrina, Don Ramón and Doña Florinda, among others. Even though it is an old serial, million people around the world still watch it and they have followed laughing with its stories; El Chavo del 8 is a great sitcom for all family members.
But, El Chavo are not exempt of gender conventions, furthermore, the violence it is a main topic one each chapter. The female roles are defined with clarity and the beauty ideals guided us to choice the best type of woman at the society. Patty is the only one female character that have a sexual dimension, she looks good and the others characters look her an object. However, she isn't a protagonist and is a little fool between the children of her age. The others female characters are Doña Florinda and La Chilindrina, ant they have any sexual dimension, they are asexual women and depict the grief and the inhibition, even though Doña Florinda is in a romance with Profesor Jirafales, but he never wish her or show any kind of desire. Moreover, the male characters are more protagonist than female characters, and they can enjoy of other type of roles, without having get the sexual charge. El Chavo, Quico and Don Ramon, is a comedian triad, and anybody of these show us an stereotype of male at the latin society; the poor man that accept his poor condition, the stupid man that depende of a mother (a woman that protect the men system), and the aggressive man that hit to others they are less strong than this.
Don Ramon is “Monchito", and I take special care with this character because his poor condition took my heart.
